Wilder liked to lift the flaps。 I found the story to be an idealized version of history。

Pete the Cat stars in his class play about the Pilgrims voyage to North America and the first Thanksgiving。While the history presented is fairly banal and inoffensive， I would have preferred Pete the Cat to observe Thanksgiving as a celebration of food and gratitude rather than a commemoration of events in the colonization of North America。 Something more along the lines of Mashed potatoes are groovy。

Read this with my students before Thanksgiving。 They loved the little flaps！
